Oasis® is different from other moisturizing mouthwash products because, in addition to providing oral cleansing and breath freshening capabilities, it also has a unique mucoadhesive formula to retain moisture, offering lasting relief from dry mouth, and making the mouth feel smoother.1
The specialized formula found in Oasis uses a combination of three different mucoadhesive polymers to moisten and lubricate dry mouth. These include two hydrophilic polymers-- xanthum gum and carboxymethylcellulose-- which each contain the negative electrical charge needed to adhere to the mucosa and stay there, holding onto moisture and adding substantivity. They work with a third polymer, copovidone, which forms a film on the mucosa surface, holding onto water and creating a smooth mouth feel.2 It's this combination that helps patients manage dry mouth symptoms for up to two hours.1
